It has been over a half century since Bob Bailey Senior started Chickie’s at their original location on South Pulaski on Chicago’s southwest side in 1962. It was quite the phenomenon when Chickie’s began selling Vienna Beef hot dogs and their homemade Italian Beef. Now in its third location, Bob’s grandson, Chuck Falco, has opened the latest version of Chickie’s on Roosevelt Road in Hillside.
Keeping with the family tradition, Chuck has perpetuated a modern menu and has even added pizza, soup, and chili to their successful formula. A family-style hot dog stand with great food and friendly smiles has helped Chuck maintain the integrity of The Original Chickie’s long standing name. Now with Chickie’s new location, Vienna Beef has deemed it worthy to once again ‘ring the bell’ for Chickie’s and alert the consumers that a Hall of Famer is in their neighborhood.
The Vienna Beef Hot Dog Hall of Fame was created to honor hot dog operations that have achieved longevity and developed into true neighborhood landmarks. Vienna Beef is proud to recognize these establishments above all others. Out of thousands of Vienna Beef customers, only 119 have been inducted into the Hall of Fame. Now, with their new location and expanded menu, we wish Chuck and the entire Chickie’s family best wishes for continued success.
