Dan Weinberger’s deli knowledge and prominence began with his dad honing the skills of the trade back in the early 1950’s on Chicago’s south side. Decades later, Dan’s goal in Texas has been to elevate the deli sandwich to new heights. His aspirations continue to climb higher as he has been voted Top Deli in Texas and is sharing his expertise on the Board of the Texas Restaurant Association.
At Weinberger’s, they keep tabs on their Top 20 sandwiches that keeps evolving to make sure they maintain the relevance for the community. Dan features Chicago’s top Vienna Beef Hot Dogs, Pastrami, Italian Beef, Subs, Cheesesteaks, Chiabatta Bombs, and many more. Weinberger’s has won over 20 different foodservice awards including Best of Grapevine, People’s Choice, and Best of Texas. Some have been awarded multiple times. Weinberger’s has been featured on radio, television, and almost every magazine in the state of Texas. Their uniqueness comes from Dan being a chef who started a delicatessen that has morphed into one of the best sandwich shops around. A shop that supports several charities, fundraisers, and all-around goodwill has been over the top involving Schools, Athletics, support of police, fire departments, and so much more.
It’s the culmination of all those qualities in addition to being such an integral part of the community for all those years that has led Vienna Beef to pay homage to Weinberger’s Deli as we induct them into the Vienna Beef Hot Dog Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame was created to honor longtime local foodservice operators that have developed into neighborhood landmarks. Out of thousands of Vienna Beef customers nationwide, we have only recognized 147 since the award was created in 2006. From the entire Vienna Beef family, we now recognize Weinberger’s Deli as the 148th recipient of this honor and award.
