Flub A Dub Chubs is a Hot Dog and Burger emporium that resides 5 steps under street level at 3021 N Broadway. As they say, “it’s hard to find, but hard to ignore after you’ve tried it”. True words about a great neighborhood haunt. This unforgettable place has a wall of fame featuring original artwork done by neighborhood kids; and a wall of shame featuring ketchup eating customer mug shots. But the headlines belong to the products on the menu, such as the chubby Vienna Beef Hot Dogs, Polish Sausages and Bratwurst with names like Flubby, Chubby, the Durkowski and Mr Big to name a few.
The place which has been feeding Chicagoans and tourists for nearly 2 decades was the brainchild of Sam Giarratano, with his wife Rosemary, and their 2 sons Greg and Bryan. The name, Flub A Dub Chubs, came from a children’s book, but it also describes the large portions, creative menu ideas and a ‘hodge-podge’ of fun that keeps it fresh and relevant. Their constant community service participation to the Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce along with their dedication to neighborhood charitable needs and services are paramount in their business. Publicity has been no stranger either. They have been included in endless ‘Best of’ lists as well as being featured on “Chicago’s Best” showing off their BBQ pulled pork wrapped around a Vienna Chubby Hot Dog. The very same menu item to have won the 2023 Vienna Beef x Miller Lite Beers and Dogs competition. Their tots, fries, fried portobellos, beef chili, and many others are Flub’s opening attractions to the Flubtastic Tuesday, the Willie, the Chihuahua, Greg’s Hangover and The Bryan Burger are just a sampling of what to get.
Vienna Beef is proud to have been part of their growth by providing quality products and marketing support from the beginning of this hall of fame worthy foodservice dynamo. The Hot Dog Hall of Fame was created to honor great foodservice operators that have developed into neighborhood landmarks. Out of thousands of Vienna Beef customers over the years we have recognized only 151 nationwide since the award was created in 2006.
