On Tuesday, April 9th, our Sr. VP of Customer Development and founder of the Vienna Beef Hall of Fame, Bob Schwartz, paid homage to the 2008 inductee Sammie's and their new location in Lindenhurst.
For over five decades Sammie’s restaurants have been providing a great foodservice experience for the folks of northern Lake County, Illinois. Now, a fifth location has just opened in Lindenhurst, offering the same great menu featuring Vienna Beef Hot Dogs and Polish Sausages along with the Big Samburger, Italian Beef, Grilled Chicken, Gyros, Meatballs, and a whole lot more.
Quality food combined with great management, customer service, and community relations have been the key components in the continued success for this foodservice icon. Recognized 15 years ago as Hall-of-Fame-worthy, Sammie’s was an early inductee of this Vienna Beef award. The Hall of Fame was created to honor longtime foodservice operators that have developed into neighborhood landmarks. The Sammie’s team of Sammy Guinta, his brother Joseph and their parents, Ann and Dominic, actually began with a trailer in the Portage Park area of Irving Park Road in 1964. They have continued to develop and grow with Sam’s son, Dominic, Tom Sheehan, David Maravilla, and David Keith as well as a cast of so many who helped grow and nurture the Sammie’s brand in Grayslake, Lake Villa, Round Lake, Round Lake Beach and now Lindenhurst.
Out of thousands of Vienna Beef customers over the years, we have recognized only 151 since the award was created back in 2006. From all of us at Vienna Beef we are proud of the continued hall of fame dedication by the growing Sammie’s foodservice family.
