For over the past 50 years, The Bunny Hutch has been feeding and entertaining Chicagoans and tourists. Over the past decade, new operators, Bill and Tony Zaya have added their Grand Slam Pizza to the menu while continuing to feature their Vienna Beef Hot Dogs, Burgers, Gyros, cheese steaks, Salads and more.
For almost 75 years, the main event of this iconic, memorable place has been the Novelty Golf, Batting Cages, and games. If you ask any North Sider between the ages of 20 and 90 about the Bunny Hutch, a smile is sure to come to their face as they recount good times they had enjoying a hot dog and playing these games or hitting balls at the batting cages. The owners of the property, the Klatzgo family, founded The Bunny Hutch half a century ago to complement their popular Novelty Golf. Over the past decade, the Zaya brothers (Bill, Tony, and Johnny) have concentrated on successfully building up their food business, while working with Craig Klatzgo to keep perpetuating the fun of Novelty Golf.
This unique place with a fun atmosphere and great food has created an ongoing buzz in the community for decades and has led Vienna Beef to pay homage and induct Bunny Hutch into the Vienna Beef Hot Dog Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame was created to honor longtime foodservice operators that have developed into neighborhood landmarks. Out of thousands of Vienna customers over the years we have recognized only 146 stands nationwide since the award was created in 2006. From the entire Vienna Beef family we are proud to welcome The Bunny Hutch and the Klatzgo and Zaya families as the 147th recipients.
