Back in 1984, Bob Houpy began selling hot dogs and other sandwiches in Melrose Park, Illinois. Two years later Bob partnered with his brother Joe and cousin John Bocian. They opened a second location in Cicero. In ’93 they opened the Berwyn Store, and now a fourth spot in Broadview.
Bob was born and raised in the same area where Lucky Dog was founded. This helped solidify great customer service, product integrity, and a sense of community for three decades and counting. Every employee is like family. Many have been there since day one. Customers range from first to second to third generations.
Each restaurant features their famous gyros, burgers, and a variety of specialty sandwiches. Of course there are always Vienna Beef hot dogs, sausages and deli meats. After three decades it’s now Vienna’s turn to thank and congratulate the family and staff. We welcome Lucky Dog into the Vienna Beef Hot Dog Hall of Fame!
